Living in Rio Verde, Arizona: what to know before you move
A quiet master-planned community northeast of Scottsdale, with golf, mountain views and 1.1-acre homesites.

Where Rio Verde is
Rio Verde is a census-designated place in Maricopa County, in the far northeast corner of the Phoenix metro, east of Scottsdale. It had about 2,210 residents at the 2020 census, and the surrounding foothills area is unincorporated desert, near the Tonto National Forest to the north and McDowell Mountain Regional Park to the south.
A community built around the outdoors
Rio Verde is a master-planned community with golf at the Rio Verde Country Club, and nearby McDowell Mountain Regional Park offers hiking, camping and cycling.
Quiet desert, city access
Life here is low-key: dark desert skies, mountain views and no through-traffic, with Scottsdale's dining, shopping and hospitals a short drive down the Beeline corridor. The area around town is made up of large custom parcels, so you get elbow room that the metro's subdivisions can't offer — which is why buyers looking for acreage near Phoenix keep landing here.
How water works on acreage
Outside municipal service areas, water is parcel-specific: some properties connect to a shared well or community system, others use private wells, and septic handles wastewater. Our Rio Verde homes use a shared well. Always confirm the water source for the exact parcel before you buy — we review it with you during the site visit.
